Here at The Martins, we understand that every family and grieving process is different. Some people may not deem a funeral ceremony necessary for saying goodbye to their loved one and might instead prefer an understated send-off. A direct cremation is best suited to fulfilling these wishes, offering a minimal-fuss cremation without a service or mourners.

Although this is a cremation without a service, it is performed with the utmost respect and dignity for the deceased. Direct cremations are an affordable way to say goodbye to your loved one, avoiding the traditional expenses often incurred with funeral planning. It also allows the freedom to say goodbye in your own way at a later date, without being tied to tradition and formality.

If you choose a direct cremation, we will handle all arrangements to minimise stress at this difficult time – we promise to always keep you well informed. Due to the simplicity of our direct cremations service, viewings in our chapel of rest will not be possible and we are unable to handle donations or obituary notices.

Our direct cremation services include:

  • Collection of the deceased within a 10-mile radius of our funeral home
  • Provision of a simple coffin, suitable for cremation
  • A dignified resting place until the day of the cremation
  • Completion of all legal documents
  • Disbursement costs. This includes all third-party charges made by those who complete the relevant paperwork necessary for cremation
  • Transportation of the deceased to the crematorium
  • Collection and return of ashes
